Talia PISANO wins at Australian Uni Games

Edith Cowan University student Talia PISANO has won her heat of the Open 100m hurdles at the 2023 Australian University Games in Queensland.

She recorded her fastest time ever with 14.88sec +2.2 which placed her 7th overall of the competitors. Unfortunately the event only ran timed heats and then placings/medals were given according to the times recorded. The first heat had wind of over 3m per second which gave them an advantage. There was no finals race.

"If I had told Talzy at the start of the 2022/23 season that she would win the state championships and record Personal Bests in the 60m, 100m, 200m and 100m hurdles. Plus finish 7th fastest overall at the Australian Open Uni Games (and would have placed 6th in U20 100mh final at national championships) she would not have believed me" says coach Paul.

Her 2023 season (100m hurdles).

15.66 +2.9 27/01/2023

15.08 +2.0 17/02/2023 - Personal Best

15.13 +2.9 05/03/2023 - WA Championships

14.88 +2.2 21/04/2023 - Australian University Games

The Choo Choo express

Mina "Choo Choo" CHO has run faster than the U12 WA state record of 12.74sec at the WA Athletics Stadium with a blistering time of 12.62sec (+5.5).

Her amazing wind-assisted performance makes her the fastest U12 girl over 100m in Western Australian history. The current state little athletics record has a No Wind Indicated (NWI) reading making her time an 'unofficial' state record. She hopes to break it again officially at the WA Little Athletics state championships in March and also plans to win the 100m & 200m double going in as the favourite.

Choo Choo has officially equaled the 100m state record with a legal personal best performance of 12.74 (+2.0) on the 9/2/2024. That same evening she set another PB over the 200m with 26.52 (+0.6) which is a new Sprinting Fast record beating the previous record set by Leah O'Brien 4 years ago when she ran 26.71 on 23/2/2020.

She is having a fantastic season so far also braking the University of WA Little Athletics Centre U12 girls 60m record with 8.54sec and her UWA relay team also broke the state girls 4x100m record (52.40).
