Edith Cowan University student Talia PISANO has won her heat of the Open 100m hurdles at the 2023 Australian University Games in Queensland.

She recorded her fastest time ever with 14.88sec +2.2 which placed her 7th overall of the competitors. Unfortunately the event only ran timed heats and then placings/medals were given according to the times recorded. The first heat had wind of over 3m per second which gave them an advantage. There was no finals race.

"If I had told Talzy at the start of the 2022/23 season that she would win the state championships and record Personal Bests in the 60m, 100m, 200m and 100m hurdles. Plus finish 7th fastest overall at the Australian Open Uni Games (and would have placed 6th in U20 100mh final at national championships) she would not have believed me" says coach Paul.

Her 2023 season (100m hurdles).
