U16 athlete Ruby MANOV has broken two records at the Kingsway Little Athletics Centre in the 100m & 300m hurdles.
On January 13th she broke the 300m hurdles record at KLAC with a time of 47.83. Almost a whole second faster than the previous record of 48.69sec. Then two weeks later on January 27th she broke the 100m hurdles record with a personal best performance of 15.78 (the previous record was 16.48 set on 18/02/2023).
One week after that she set another personal best of 14.83 at the WA Athletics Stadium beating the Sprinting Fast record (which was 14.97 set on 17/12/2015 by Sarah Sunquist). That effort currently ranks her 6th in Australia for her age group. Later that evening she recorded her fastest ever 100m clocking a wind-aided 12.56 (+2.3).
Ruby only joined Sprinting Fast halfway through the 2023/24 season and has made some impressive improvements since.
U12/13 Perth Saints soccer player Isabella Di Prinzio has taken her speed to the next level with 11 weeks of sprint training.
"When Bella arrived she was doing some things incorrect with her sprinting. We had to change a few things to make her more economical and increase her speed" Says coach Edmiston. "Now she is moving much better and you can visually see the difference. She has improved more than half a second over 30m and more than one second over 60m. That's a lot and it will make a huge difference to her soccer games in many ways".
Isabella continues to work hard and do sprint training in her lead up to the coming 2024 soccer season.

Australia's number one holiday athletics crew travel to Northam Little Athletics Centre to inspire the countries youth.
The visit was made possible through the Shire of Northam's generous grant towards helping their youth develop further through expert coaching. Athletes were treated to Private Training sessions, morning tea, lunch, refreshments and capped off with an inspirational message followed by group coaching sessions.
The Sprinting Fast coaching team was made up of Paralympic bronze medalist Sarah Edmiston, multiple award winner Paul Edmiston and coach/athletes Alana Sim, Poppy Vogl & Mackenzie Liddelow.
Sarah grew up in a country town and had the most success as an athlete after the age of 40. An water skiing accident at 19yo left her with 'foot drop' which enabled her to become a Para athlete later in life. Her message was clear to the kids "Achieving success has nothing to do with having the best facilities, fancy shoes or lots of money. It's about having an unstoppable determination, making no excuses and working hard every day!" - @sarahedmistonau
The team plans regular visits including preparation for the state championships in February 2024 and before the 2024/25 season start.

๐"My first ever Pro race win was the 1989 Port Hedland Gift. I won $2500 & a gold coin (worth $500). 2nd & 3rd place were two indigenous boys trained by Ross Humphries (Lawson's Dad). He must have been dark with me for all these years. Today, I'm glad I had the privilege of training his son" - Coach Paul Edmiston.

๐Hey Paul, I just thought I'd flick a message saying cheers for those sessions early this year. I had a really good year of footy, and a lot of that was the newfound confidence in my running and, in particular, my sprinting. There are a few boys from swans (3-5) who are keen, and I'd be keen to do some sessions again. Was wondering how your availability is over the next couple of months. Hope you're well and will hear from you soon - Lawson Humphries.

2023 State Champion athlete Lolo VOGL has broken the U12 girls 80m hurdles record twice in two weeks.
Running into a headwind the Hamersley athlete beat the record that was held previously by her Sprinting Fast stablemate Rubi Zuchetti, who set the record of 14.19sec back on the 5th November 2021 at Charles Riley Reserve in North Beach. Lolo then equaled her own record with a time of 13.88sec on Tuesday the 14th of November 2023 at a twilight meeting on the Charles Riley long grass.
UWALAC athlete Mina CHO wins the 2023 WA U11 Girls 100m state championship title in 13.45sec PB.
She finished seventh in the same race last year improving dramatically since joining coach Paul in November 2022. Nicknamed 'choo-choo' the super fast athlete also finished a close second in the 200m final.
"Mina possesses incredible natural speed and power but was not using it correctly before. Now she is applying it properly and you can see the results" say coach Paul. "If I told her (when she joined me) that she would become the state 100m champion in 4 months, she would have looked at me in disbelief. She could be an incredible sprinter/hurdler/jumper in the future if she wants".
She almost gave the sport away in 2022. "I don't want to run Mum." said a disappointed Mina after her 100m heat as she only just qualified for the final. "After this race you can quit if you want to" said her mother. "But let's just run this final race and see what happens". She finished in 7th place.
The 2021 & 2022 state champion Abby ROBINSON finished 4th place in 13.83sec (& 4th in the 200m) with Lola VOGL 6th (14.03sec) in the 100m final.
I went from 7th in U10 to State Champion in U11. This proves you can do anything you put your mind to. Donโt concentrate on other people focus on developing your own talent. Thank you @sprintingfast for believing in me. #thisisathletics
